That M Word: A Migraine Blog

Sorry migraines, I just don’t have time for you right now.

Not enough time in the day!One of the reasons I decided to switch careers was because my health was suffering in a big way. This month, I’ve been trying to balance my new “in transition” schedule.

  1. I started the Insanity workout program at the end of August (I know, overexercising is a trigger).
  2. My first day of Insanity was also my first day of class. I’m a full time student, in class four nights a week for three hours a class, and I’m absolutely loving it. I could not have made a better decision regarding my career.
  3. But did I mention I’m still working full time?

Weekends are not for relaxing anymore but now for catching up on schoolwork. I’m constantly behind which is stressing me out and causing more migraines. Actually, my stress release is the Insanity program! I’ve found that if I take breaks when I need them and drink enough water, I’m able to get through it without a migraine easily. I just finished the first month!

But when the migraines do hit, they hit HARD. I haven’t had to visit an ER in 2012 so far, but I am definitely worried I’m overdoing it. Frankly, my schedule is packed and I just can’t afford to fit a migraine in there!

What used to get me through a busy week was coffee and knowing that I’d have a break ahead. But now I can’t have coffee anymore (even decaf) and I don’t see a break for months.

What do you do when you are overwhelmed? How do you make up the time you lose from a migraine?
